Our July 2024 Iron Ager of the Month is Yves Chandonnet Fox “Foxy”.
Yves, in his early 50’s, is a triathlete currently training for a 70.3 in Italy this Fall. He has consistently hit age group podiums in his last 5 races – and feels he is in the best shape of his life right now.
Foxy currently is putting in about 10 – 15 hours of training per week, as he ramps of volume for the 70.3.
Like many of us, in his youth he played just about every sport under the sun, but got hooked on triathlons in college after a professor told the class they would get extra credit if they participated in a local triathlon the following week. The rest, as they say, is history.
He realizes life is all about the “Centenarian Decathlon” – and knows what he’s doing now will be helping him live his best life 40 years from now. It’s that mindset that helps him stay disciplined to hit those daily workouts.
His advice for other Iron Agers? “Listen to your body and enjoy the process. It’s a journey.”
His advice for anyone attempting their first triathlon? “Be humble. Look for local teams or coached to help. It will save you so much time and energy in figuring out what you should be doing.”
