Patience. Have some patience. Be patient….

Like me, you’ve probably heard those words over and over again throughout your life.

Once I stopped associating these words with time, with slowing down – they became a powerful and positive trigger to ACT.

To actually take an action.

Two, in fact.

1. Check my emotions

and

2. Put my thinking hat on

Are my emotions helping or hurting me here? What emotions are present? Why? Just do a quick check here to make sure your emotional brain isn’t being a reckless driver.

Once you take control of the wheel for a second, put your thinking hat on. How can I be smarter here? How can I be more thoughtful? What does being more calculating get me?

Doing those two things doesn’t necessarily have to slow you down – they just have to be a quick set of checks and balances to ensure the best possible outcome.

So when someone tells you to “have some patience”, turn that into a positive trigger to check your emotions and put your thinking hat on.

There’s probably a good reason someone is telling you that.
