Lessons learned this week:

1.      Work/life balance can be enormously challenging for people who are dealing with stressful, time-consuming life challenges outside of work. Often, for them, there is no break. No place for balance.

This is unsustainable and threatens both their physical and mental health.

One thing we can try to offer them as friends and partners is some “escape” time – where the stresses of work and life can take a backseat, if only for a little while.

2.      Not new or a lesson – but when I notice it, it’s a good reminder … when you are continuously working “in” the business, you can’t work “on” the business. Make the time.

3.      Most people want you to be successful – and when they are challenging you, asking you questions, or are focused on the negatives – it’s not because they want to attack you – it’s because they are doing their job, trying to understand, and eventually trying to getting to a place where they might be able to offer help. When you see it from that angle, it’s much easier to absorb and work through.

This is where high trust teams really elevate – and eventually win.

4.      A ritual of daily/morning journaling really pays off. When you have a big event coming up – that daily reflection, learning, reminding yourself how to show up and framing up the day will really set you up for success.
