Reflecting on the week this morning …
One thought I keep coming back to – a quote I heard on The Market that Moves America podcast – “high trust teams speed decision making”.
It is absolutely true.
Trust = speed.
Here are 5 tips to help build trust in your leadership team.
1) Whether through your 1to1’s, coaching or ongoing conversations – continually prove you have each other’s best interests in mind. This allows you to have the most challenging conversations – where we all get better.
2) Be vulnerable. Admit when you are wrong. Be honest when you don’t have the answers right now. Ask for help. We’re all human. We all have room to grow. Drop the façade – it’s just a barrier.
3) Meet more. In person. Leaders should be meeting weekly on strategy. Start the meetings with a “good news check-in” (personal or professional). Sometimes the little nuggets dropped here and there are incredible foundation builders.
4) Be accountable. Do what you say you will. Get things done. Results matter.
5) Have fun. Work is hard. Celebrate the wins. It’s OK to laugh and smile. The world can always use more of that.
